Can you get both?
Yes
Article 10 of RD 42/2022 expressly exempts people on the IMV or a non-contributory pension; together they cannot exceed the rent.
| Joint ceiling | €500 |
Under the 2022-2025 Plan there was a compatible case capped at 75% of the rent; the 2026-2030 Plan does not repeat it.

The rule is simple: you cannot receive two aids to pay the same rent. The Bono Alquiler Joven does not add up with a regional or council rent aid, nor with those of the 2026-2030 State Plan, and those do not add up with each other either. There are three exceptions: the Minimum Living Income (IMV), non-contributory pensions and aid for especially vulnerable people, such as victims of gender violence or evicted people, which can sit alongside the Bono as long as the total does not exceed the rent. Anything that is not rent aid, such as unemployment benefit, a grant or a child benefit, clashes with nothing. The income tax rent deduction does not clash either, because it is a tax relief, not a subsidy. If you qualify for two incompatible aids, the calculator on the home page shows which pays more.
The general rule: one aid per rent
Article 10 of Royal Decree 42/2022 makes the Bono incompatible with any other rent aid, whether from the State, the region, the town council or any public body. Royal Decree 326/2026 repeats the same idea in article 118, for the general aid, and article 136, for the youth aid. If you qualify for two, you do not add them: you choose. Most people keep the higher one, and the amounts page shows which that is for your rent.
The three exceptions
The same article 10 allows three cases. First, aid for especially vulnerable people: victims of gender violence, trafficking or sexual violence, people facing eviction, homeless people or others in a similar situation. Second, the Minimum Living Income. Third, non-contributory pensions. In all three, what you receive for rent cannot add up to more than you pay. The 2022-2025 Plan also let you combine the Bono with its youth aid up to 75% of the rent; the 2026-2030 Plan does not repeat that rule.
What is not rent aid
The incompatibility only covers aids with the same purpose. Unemployment benefit or assistance, a grant, child benefit or a regional top-up that does not pay rent are not incompatible. They do count as income for the 3 times IPREM limit. The income tax rent deduction in article 68.6 of the Income Tax Act is a tax relief and can be held at the same time; regional rent deductions depend on each region.
What to do if you already receive something
Declare it on the application. Hiding an incompatible aid means repaying what you received with interest. If the other aid ends, you can apply for the Bono for the following months, provided a call is open. If you move to another region, the new one may keep paying your Bono, but will not add its own aid on top.
