In the Canary Islands the Bono Alquiler Joven is run by the Canary Housing Institute (ICAVI). The 2026 call was published in the Canary Islands Official Gazette no. 187 of 17 September 2026 and had a window of fifteen working days, from 18 September to 8 October according to the regional government's official note. It is now closed. It was non-competitive, meaning applicants were not ranked against each other, and the raised rent cap applied in every municipality: 900 euros for a flat and 450 for a room. The budget, around 12.9 million euros, combines 10.6 million from the Ministry with contributions from the island councils of Tenerife and of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. The rules are the national ones: aged up to 35, 250 euros a month for 24 months and 2025 income up to 3 times the IPREM. The 2026-2030 State Plan aids have no Canary call yet.

Fifteen working days in September and October

The ICAVI decision published in BOC no. 187 of 17 September 2026 opened the window 18 September 2026 to 8 October 2026. It was handled on the Canary government e-services site on a non-competitive basis: every eligible application is served in turn until the money runs out, with no scoring. That is why it pays to apply early with a complete file, since a request to fix missing documents pushes you down the queue.

The rent cap was set at the maximum in article 8 of Royal Decree 42/2022 for the whole archipelago: €900 for a flat and €450 for a room. The income limit uses 2025 income and is 3 times the IPREM, with higher margins for some groups set by the call itself. With no zones or island exceptions, an 850 euro rent in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and a 500 euro rent on La Gomera receive the same 250 euros a month. What changes is the share of the rent covered, which is far larger on the less pressured islands. The funding mix also explains the size of this call: without the island councils, the Ministry money alone would have reached fewer young tenants.

If you missed it

There is no other open Canary Bono call. The next one will depend on the next national funding round. Meanwhile, check which papers you will need, because the Canary window is short:

If you are a non-EU resident on the islands, a valid residence card is essential: the Bono requires EU nationality or legal residence in Spain.

The 2026-2030 Plan on the islands

The State allocated 42.4 million euros to the Canary Islands for 2026 under the 2026-2030 State Housing Plan, but ICAVI has not yet opened the youth aid, up to €300 a month, or the general aid. For buying a home in a Canary municipality of 10,000 people or fewer, the Annex IV maximum price is €250,000.

Common questions

What rent cap did the 2026 Canary Islands Bono Alquiler Joven use?

Nine hundred euros a month for a flat and 450 for a room, in every municipality of the islands, by agreement with the Ministry. There are no zones with different caps as in other regions. Parking and storage are not included in that figure. Above 900 euros the application is refused even if every other requirement is met.

Why do the island councils add money to the Canary Islands Bono?

Because the Tenerife council, with 1.9 million euros, and the Lanzarote and La Graciosa council, with funds left over from 2025, chose to add island money to the ICAVI call so that more young people could be covered. The money goes into the same call: there is nothing separate to request from the council.

Why do the BOC and BDNS dates differ for the Canary bonus?

The National Grants Database record shows 15 September to 6 October 2026, while the regional government's note and the count of fifteen working days from the gazette give 18 September to 8 October. We use the latter. Either way, the window is over.
