Rent aid for sudden vulnerabilityClosed–open

La Rioja is one of the regions where you can apply for the Bono Alquiler Joven right now. It was called by Resolution 417/2026, published in BOR no. 102 on 1 June 2026, and applications are accepted 2 June 2026 to 30 April 2027. The budget is 6 million euros spread over 2026 to 2029, so it is best not to leave it to the last minute. The aid is the national one: 250 euros a month for 24 months for people up to 35 with income up to 3 times the IPREM. The La Rioja call spells out two conditions worth checking first: at least 90 days of social security contributions in the six months before applying, and a lease of at least one year. The rent cap is 600 euros, or 300 for a room, since La Rioja did not ask to raise it. The aid for sudden vulnerability closed in September 2025 and there is no call yet under the 2026-2030 State Plan.

An eleven-month window

BOR no. 102 of 1 June 2026 published the rules and the call together, with an unusually long window: from 2 June 2026 to 30 April 2027. The procedure is on the La Rioja government online office. The 6 million euros are spread over 2026 to 2029, because each award lasts 24 months and is paid across several years. A long window does not guarantee money for everyone: if the budget is committed earlier, the window may close without waiting for April. Other regions, such as Extremadura this very summer, closed their calls weeks ahead of schedule for exactly that reason, so the prudent course is to apply as soon as your lease is signed and your papers are together. The age limit is checked on the day you apply, so if you are about to turn 36, do not wait for spring.

Two La Rioja requirements

The call follows Royal Decree 42/2022, but pins down two points. The first is the regular income source: you need 90 days of contributions in the six months before applying, so a very recent job may not be enough. The second is the lease: it must last at least one year. The rent cap is the general one, €600 for a flat and €300 for a room. Go through every requirement before filling anything in:

What is no longer available

The aid for sudden vulnerability, for tenants whose income drops suddenly, was open for almost three years and closed on 1 September 2025. There is no La Rioja call under the 2026-2030 State Plan either; we found none in the BOR or in the National Grants Database. When it comes, the youth aid will also help people short of the 90 days, and to buy in a village Annex IV sets a maximum price here of €250,000.

Common questions

Until when can I apply for the youth rent bonus in La Rioja?

Until 30 April 2027. The call opened on 2 June 2026, the day after it appeared in the La Rioja Official Gazette, with a 6 million euro budget over several years. If the money ran out earlier, the planning and housing directorate could close the window, so it is wise to apply soon.

How many days of contributions does the La Rioja youth bonus require?

At least 90 days of contributions in the six months before applying, which is how the La Rioja call defines the regular income source in Royal Decree 42/2022. Employment, self-employment and benefits all count. Get your employment history report before applying and check the days.

What is the maximum rent La Rioja accepts for the youth bonus?

600 euros a month for a flat and 300 for a room, the general caps in Royal Decree 42/2022. La Rioja is not among the regions that agreed with the Ministry to raise the limit to 900 euros. The lease must also run for at least a year, which not every region requires.

Is La Rioja's rent aid for sudden vulnerability still open?

No. It was for tenants who suddenly could not pay their rent, with an 835,000 euro call open from October 2022 until 1 September 2025. It is now closed and no new call has followed. If you are in that situation, contact your town council's social services.
