In Galicia the Bono Alquiler Joven is run as the bono alugueiro mocidade by the Galician Housing and Land Institute (IGVS). The latest call is the 2025 one, published in DOG no. 35 on 20 February 2025, with a window running 28 February 2025 to 28 March 2025, and there is no 2026 call on the Xunta site. It required being under 36 with income up to 3 times the IPREM, and set the rent cap by municipality: 700 euros in A Coruña, Santiago, Vigo, Ourense and Pontevedra, and 600, 500 or 400 euros elsewhere depending on the zone. Its budget, almost 13 million, was increased in December 2025, and the aid cannot be granted beyond 31 December 2026. For vulnerable people the social rent voucher stays open until 30 November 2026. The Emancípate grant, which pays moving-in costs rather than rent, closed in April. There is no Galician call yet under the 2026-2030 State Plan.

The 2025 youth rent voucher

The Xunta called the Bono by a Resolution of 18 February 2025, in DOG no. 35, under procedure code VI482E. The window lasted one month and the budget, 12.9 million euros, was increased by a resolution published in the DOG on 12 December 2025 to cover more applications. One important Galician rule: the aid cannot be granted beyond 31 December 2026, even if the 24 months are not complete. The Xunta de Galicia site lists only the 2022 and 2025 calls; there is none for 2026.

Four rent caps

Galicia does not use a single limit. The IGVS table splits municipalities into zones: the five big cities allow €700 for a flat and €350 for a room; zone 1, 600 and 300; the next, 500 and 250; and the rest, 400 and 200. In other words, the cap in a small town in Lugo or Ourense is below the general one in Royal Decree 42/2022. The calculator uses the highest cap; if you live outside the cities, check your zone before counting on anything.

The Galician schemes still running

The social rent voucher is the only rent aid with an open window in Galicia: a standing call from 2022 until 30 November 2026, while funds last, for especially vulnerable people. It can cover the whole rent. The Emancípate grant is something else: a one-off payment for the costs of leaving home (deposit, furniture, utility connections), claimed between February and April in 2026. It is now closed.

And the 2026-2030 State Plan

We found no Galician call under Royal Decree 326/2026. When it comes, the youth aid will pay up to €300 capped at 60% of the rent, and in municipalities of 10,000 people or fewer, the majority in Galicia, the rent cap will be €500. To buy in one of them, Annex IV sets a maximum price of €250,000.

Common questions

How expensive can a flat be for the youth rent voucher in Vigo or A Coruña?

Under the 2025 call, up to 700 euros a month for a flat and 350 for a room in the five big cities: A Coruña, Santiago, Vigo, Ourense and Pontevedra. In other municipalities the cap drops to 600, 500 or 400 euros depending on the zone set in the IGVS table. If your rent is above your municipality's cap, you do not qualify.

What is the Xunta's social rent voucher and who can claim it?

It is a Galician aid for gender-violence victims, evicted people, homeless people and others in a vulnerable situation, with income up to 1.5 times the weighted IPREM. It can cover up to 100% of the rent, with rent caps of 550, 500 or 425 euros depending on the municipality. The call stays open until 30 November 2026.

Does the Galician Emancípate grant pay the rent?

No. The 2026 Emancípate grant from the regional culture and youth department gave 1,500 euros if you rented and 3,000 if you bought, on a virtual card for moving-in costs, not monthly rent. It was for people aged 18 to 35 and the window ran from 13 February to 30 April 2026.
