To apply for the Bono Alquiler Joven or the 2026-2030 Plan youth aid you need to prove five things: who you are and that you live legally in Spain, that you have a lease in your name or are about to sign one, that the flat is your main home, how much you earn and, for the Bono, that you have a regular source of income. In practice that means your DNI, or your NIE with your residence card, the lease, the household padrón certificate, your Social Security employment record or benefit certificate, and consent for the region to check your income tax return with the Tax Agency. Almost every region also asks for a bank account in your name and a signed statement that you own no other home and are not related to the landlord. While you receive the aid you must prove rent payments at least every 6 months, so always pay by bank transfer.
Identity and residence
Spanish nationals need their DNI. Citizens of another EU country, the EEA or Switzerland, their NIE and registration certificate. Others need lawful stay or residence under article 6.1.b of Royal Decree 42/2022: a valid residence card. The 2026-2030 Plan does not set nationality in its articles, but each call may ask for the same.
The lease and the home
The lease must name you as tenant, with the monthly rent excluding parking or storage. If you rent a room, a room agreement is enough even if it does not follow the Urban Leases Act. If you have not signed yet, you can still apply: you will have 2 months from the award to sign. The household padrón certificate proves it is your home and who lives with you, which matters when household income is added up.

Income and regular source
Filing the application authorises the region to check your income tax data with the Tax Agency (article 6.4). If you object, provide the tax certificate with a secure verification code. For the Bono's regular income source, the Social Security employment record shows the 3 months in the last 6, together with your employment contract or payslips. If you are self-employed, your registration and last tax return. If you receive a benefit, the certificate from the paying body with its amount and length.
Being up to date and signed statements
Article 13 of the General Subsidies Act requires being up to date with tax and Social Security, although for the Bono the region may waive one of those obligations. Usually you just authorise the region to check. The form also includes a signed statement: that you own no home, are not related to the landlord and receive no other incompatible rent aid.
