The Madrid regional government awards the Bono Alquiler Joven directly, under an Agreement of its Governing Council of 26 December 2024 summarised in BOCM no. 8 on 10 January 2025. Applications are accepted from 3 February 2025 and the e-government site shows a standing window: there is no closing date, but aid is only granted while the 31.8 million euro budget lasts. Young people aged 18 to 35 with household income up to 3 times the IPREM can apply. The general rent cap is 600 euros, 300 for a room, but it rises to 900 and 450 in the towns listed on the site, Madrid city included. The last general rent aid was the 2025 one, under the previous plan, with a window in November and December. There is no Madrid call yet under the 2026-2030 State Plan. After the Sierra Oeste wildfires, emergency aid is open until 15 November 2026.

A bonus with no closing date

Unlike most regions, Madrid does not open a window of a few weeks: it awards the Bono directly, under the summary published in BOCM no. 8 of 2025, and the Madrid region e-government site keeps it permanently open. That does not mean unlimited money. The budget is 31.8 million euros and applications are decided in phases: the latest final list, for the third phase, came out in September 2026. The sooner you apply, the more likely you land in a phase that still has funds.

Two rent caps in one region

Madrid was one of the regions that agreed with the Ministry to raise the limit in article 8 of Royal Decree 42/2022, according to the La Moncloa note of October 2024. But not across its whole territory: the €900 cap (room €450) applies in the towns listed on the site, Madrid city included, and elsewhere the general €600 applies. Before signing, check whether your town is on the list.

What there was for other tenants

For anyone outside the age limit, the last general aid was the 2025 one under the previous plan: a call in the BOCM of 28 October 2025, applications from 4 November to 15 December, 50% of the rent and the same 600 or 900 euro caps. There is no Madrid call yet under the 2026-2030 State Plan, neither for the general aid nor for the 300 euro youth aid.

Emergency aid after the fires

In September 2026 the region approved emergency rent aid for people who lost their main home in the Sierra Oeste wildfires: up to 1,500 euros a month for a year, first come first served until 15 November 2026. And if you are thinking of buying in a small town in the region, Annex IV of the Plan gives Madrid the highest price ceiling in Spain: €325,000.

Common questions

Until when can I apply for the Bono Alquiler Joven in Madrid?

No closing date has been published. The Madrid region's site has shown the procedure as permanently open since 3 February 2025, because it is a direct award, but applications are only approved while money remains. The latest final list of beneficiaries, for the third phase, appeared in the BOCM on 22 September 2026.

Does an €850 rent in Madrid city qualify for the youth bonus?

Yes, if you meet the other rules. Madrid city is on the list of towns where the cap rises to 900 euros for a flat and 450 for a room, under the region's agreement with the Ministry. In towns not on that list the cap stays at 600 euros, so an 850 euro flat there would not qualify.

What rent aid is there in Madrid if I am over 35?

The last general call was the 2025 one under the 2022-2025 State Plan, published in the BOCM on 28 October 2025, with a window from 4 November to 15 December and aid of 50% of the rent. Nothing is open right now: the general aid call under the 2026-2030 Plan has not been published yet.

Who can claim the emergency aid after the Sierra Oeste fires in Madrid?

Only people whose main home was damaged by the wildfires. The region pays 100% of the rent on a replacement home up to 1,500 euros a month, for twelve months at most. Applications are handled in order of arrival until 15 November 2026 or until the 2 million euros run out.
