Cantabria closed its latest Bono Alquiler Joven in 2025. It was the second regional call, approved by Order FOM/7/2025 with applications from 26 May to 26 June 2025, and it had a feature of its own: a rent cap of 700 euros for a flat and 300 for a room, above the general 600 euros. What sets Cantabria apart is that the regional government keeps two rent aids under its Decree 1/2025, published in the BOC on 22 January 2025, that can be requested on a rolling basis: one for people aged up to 35, paying up to 60% of the rent on leases up to 700 euros for a maximum of five years, which the decree declares compatible with the Bono, and a general one paying up to 50% of the rent. The 2026-2030 State Plan aids have no Cantabrian call yet. The calculator applies the national rules with the regional cap.

The last Cantabrian Bono

The second regional Bono call, Order FOM/7/2025, ran 26 May 2025 to 26 June 2025 with a budget of 3.8 million euros to pay from 2025 to 2027. It kept the rules of Royal Decree 42/2022, with €250 a month for 24 months and age up to 35, and raised the rent cap to €700 for a flat. No third call has been published, so for now the regional aids below are the only rent support you can request in Cantabria.

Two regional aids with rolling applications

Decree 1/2025 implements the previous national plan's programmes in Cantabria with a twist: applications stay open while the decree is in force. The youth rent aid covers up to 60% of the rent, on a lease up to 700 euros, for people aged up to 35 with income up to 3 times the IPREM, for up to five years. It is unclear whether it is limited to small towns: the record title mentions them but the article governing it does not require it, so ask when you apply. The general rent aid covers up to 50% of the rent on leases up to 700 euros, with no age limit.

The 2026-2030 Plan in Cantabria

The Sector Conference allocated 15.2 million euros to Cantabria for the first year of the 2026-2030 State Plan. There is no call for its youth aid, up to €300 a month, or the general aid. When it comes, the Decree 1/2025 aids and the new Plan aids cannot be received for the same rent, because article 136 of Royal Decree 326/2026 rules it out. For buying in a small town, Annex IV sets a maximum price of €250,000 in Cantabria.

Common questions

Can I apply today for the Cantabria Decree 1/2025 youth rent aid?

According to the National Grants Database, as of 26 October 2026 it remains open on a rolling basis, because the decree sets no end date and no repeal has been found. It pays up to 60% of the rent on leases up to 700 euros, for people under 36 with income up to 3 times the IPREM. Confirm with the regional department that it is still being processed before applying.

Can the Bono be combined with Cantabria's regional youth aid?

Decree 1/2025 declares its youth aid compatible with the Bono Alquiler Joven, which is unusual. What Royal Decree 42/2022 does not allow is for aid on the same rent to add up to more than you pay. Since the Cantabrian Bono is closed, the question only arises for people already receiving it.

Why does Cantabria use a €700 cap for the Bono Alquiler Joven?

Because the second call set its own limit of 700 euros for a flat and 300 for a room, above the general 600 euros in article 8 of Royal Decree 42/2022, which allows up to 900 euros with Ministry approval. When several beneficiaries share a home, the order provides a different limit.
